The Stromag Eddy Current Brakes have an inverse construction from most other eddy current brakes. By inverse construction, we mean that the electromagnetic coil has a smaller diameter than the qorking air gap. With this construction there are many advantages.
Features
- High torque per size. Since the air gap is on a larger radius, higher torque is produced. Approximatley 2-1/2 to 3 times over competitive models.
- Lower wattage coils. A coil with a smaller diameter will always produce more magnetism with less wattage.
- Inherent assurance of an air gap, regardless of operating condiditions. Since the heat is generated on the outer drum, as energy is absorbed, the air gap between the drum and the coil body can only increase. On competitive modles, the drum is inside the coil body and can therefore only be reduced.
- Ease of mounting. The shaft mounted unit eleminates any need for couplings, alighnment, ect. The brake need only be slid onto a shaft and a torque arm or adaptor attached to the coil body to react against the torque.
- Less weight. This is brought about by the elemnation of end bells, housing, feet shafts, ect.
- AIEE specifications. Coil and insulation are made to AIEE Class H Standars.
- Dynamic balance is standard. Not something you pay extra for.
Shipped and ready To work for you!
Stromag brakes are shipped ready to use. Just attach the hub, mount the brake and connect it to the voltage control source. All brakes are tested for maximum torque rating before shipment.
